I was pulling images for my make-up artist on this shoot and ran across an image I had kind of dismissed at the time, but now rather like.

16 things
I was tagged a few days ago by the lovely and incredibly talented Laura Zalenga. I'm not certain I'm really all that interesting, but I'll give this thing a go:
1. I grew up in a very small town where nothing ever happened. I moved away as soon as I could. Now, sometimes I wish I could just go back.
2. I remember, vividly, the experience of finding a Playboy magazine at the home of my parents friends who were baby-sitting me when I was about 6. The experience instantly changed the way I looked at women.
3. I'm a generally very quiet person. I have a lot to say, just not sure anyone wants to hear it. I guess I'm also a bit of a social introvert. I love people and relationships, but have a difficult time putting myself "out there".
4. I was raised primarily by my mother and grandmother. My step-father had already had and raised 5 children by the time he married my mom and my father lived too far away to have significant day-to-day involvement. I don't fault either of these men and love them both. But I think I have a greater respect for women because of the strong influence in my up-bringing.
5. I've never done drugs, other than tobacco and alcohol. Nope. Not once.
6. I used to be a DJ for underground clubs and rave parties in the NorthEast US. I spun vinyl under the name DJ K-OSS. My biggest event was in front of 2000 people (and 15,000 watts of power). Good time, good times.
7. I once designed a clothing collection for an alternative fashion show to benefit AIDS research. I hand-crafted a line of chain-mail clothing. Bell-bottoms in chainmail are not a great idea - they weighed 12 pounds.
8. I'm an admitted Anglophile. I love England and all things British. One of the highlights of my life was living in London at the beginning of 2007. It wasn't necessarily easy or without it's costs, but I can't say I regret it one bit.
9. I was pretty certain I never wanted to have kids. Almost positive of it. "The wee folk" weirded me out; never quite sure what to make of them. Now I have one, and I can't wait to see where his life takes me. Maybe I shouldn't have waited so long, but he's the right little guy for me and Tess at the right time. :)
10. I rarely get sick. I have a freakish constitution.
11. People often think I am stern or stand-off-ish. This is my defense mechanism. I learned it from my 10th grade sociology teacher. Apparently it works.
12. I have no clue about wine. More to the point, I can go to any shop and pick any wine - from $7 to $60 - and 99 times out of 100, it will taste like ass. I wish I knew more. I've just never spent the time.
13. I'm not a big sports guy. I grew to like American Football - Patriots, really. But keeping track of who got traded to what team under what contract terms and what that means for the statistics of xyz???? I've got far too much to do to waste brainspace on that information.
14. I'm a big believer in doing things for yourself. I like to tinker. America used to be great because we made things. If something broke, you'd fix it. We throw away too much or send things out for repair when we could really do more. We are capable of more. I've never been a grease monkey, but I actually like getting under my car and fixing it myself. I can also swing a mean hammer.
15. I studied architectural drafting in school and apprenticed under an engineer for a year. I designed a mini-mall in upstate New York, a conveyor mail sorting system for the Portland Maine central branch, and the Tourism Center for my home town. All are still standing (finger's crossed).
16. My work... the work I finally admitted to wanting to create in 2008... is a mix of both sexuality, sensuality, adoration, and reverence for women and the female form. I think there are more envelopes I want to push with my work, but we'll see what 2009 brings.

The Establishing Shot
Every good story needs to start with an establishing shot. What follows occurred at 18°F on New Year's Eve.

FlickrLeech - It has begun
It's available as an alpha right now with very limited functionality (Interestingness search only) and with a UI that is evolving daily, but she's back.
Be sure to grab Adobe AIR, as that is the platform this app will run on.
